Wills Family Orchard apples have been certified organic since 2000. This means that we do not use commercial synthetic fertilizers and a whole host of insecticides and fungicides. Raising apples organically in Iowa is without a doubt a very difficult thing to do and not many try it. We use only organically approved products. This does make our work particularly challenging. We've cooperated with Iowa State University on a number of different research projects. While we believe that we've mastered some organic apple growing methods we will be the first to say that we've made plenty of mistakes and that we're still learning.
